Hey people!
I just saw a 70 Cadillac radio for sale on EBay. Item no 180339464767. It is
the same model that I used to convert to my early model. I used the
instructions in the Tech Guide to convert the faceplate. Mine works great!
If someone wants to purchase it and doesn't want to convert it, I will be
glad to do it for them for a very small fee. If interested, purchase the
radio and contact me off list.
The cool thing about it is that when you switch from AM to FM, the dial
flips to the correct scale. I installed two speakers in the dash and two in
home made boxes under the seat. It sounds great even though it is mono with
a front to rear fader.
I'm not sure if a late model faceplate will work. However, I do have a bunch
of them on the shelf at work (LS Corvair Parts). I'd be glad to try to use
the late faceplate if you get the radio. It looks like it should fit. If it
doesn't, you can sell the radio again.
