It might also be worth mentioning that these "hidden" VINS are not nice neat
characters like you would normally see on the VIN plate in the engine
compartment (well today the cop looks through the bottom left of the
windshield - and that is funny, but another story).
Oh, the point was... each digit is individually hand stamped, and there is
no neat spacing involved.

As some others have mentioned, FCs have the serial number (last six digits
of the VIN) on the driver's side front frame rail. Pretty easy to see as
long as it's not too rusty or grimy.

I've never seen any hidden VIN # except the riveted one on the door jab on
the FC. I just came back looking at a rust free 700 and again couldn't find
a VIN on the frame. I didn't think the hidden VIN started on US cars till
1968 or so. I know in Canada I've seen corvairs built in Europe with frame
VINs.
