<VV> Disconnecting the wiring harness

I need a little advise on how to disconnect the wiring harness under  
the dash.  It looks like the connection from the dash (which must not  
be damaged) has two tines that have to be pressed towards the body of  
the harness in order for the main harness connection to be  
disconnected.  There is very little room to work in (can just manage  
to get two hands on it) and I have tried for the last twenty minutes  
to get it disconnected with no luck.  It doesn't budge a bit, and I  
really don't want to tug on it any more than absolutely necessary.   
Ideas?
