The carb is a 65-66 and I just took the top cover off to replace the 
accelerator pump. In doing so I noticed that there was no pump discharge 
needle. The carb stayed in the car so it couldn't have fallen out. 

I have a replacement and I was wondering 

1)What would have been the impact of it not being there? 

2)Just it just sit in the hole? 

3)What exactly does it do?
