I have done a few. The mating surface should be at the rear mount. I start  
in the front in the middle, moving back and forth left and right. The trick 
is  to clamp the seal so the mating ridge that will contact the engine stay 
calm and  ready to snap on. You have to allow enough slack to allow it to 
adjust to the  motor edge. The corners are really self-explanatory. The front 
is higher than  the rear and the bracket design reflects that. the beauty 
of installing the seal  before putting the motor in, is that you can stand in 
the middle of the engine  compartment and turn around as you install it. It 
will usually result in less  blood loss.
