I'm experiencing
higher than comfortable oil temperatures (265-270 as indicated by the
gauge) when cruising at 65-70 mph. It normally operates at about
260-265 after having been driven for twenty to thirty minutes in the
city.
Stephan,
Oil temps you are getting are exactly in accord with those Chev engineers
got as recorded in SAE 140C for the 1960 Corvair. They show oil temp ABOVE
250 F for road load speeds of 20 mph to over 80 mph with an ambient of 100
F. What is your ambient temp?
