Hello, all
We were in North Carolina this past week and while driving by what looked like a junk yard I spotted a 1961 Lakewood wagon on the lot. This place apparently specializes in older, classic cars suitable for restoration, as well as parts from those that are not saveable. I am not in a postion to take on a project car (darn it) but thought I would throw it out there just in case someone here might be.
The place it was at was called:
Moyock Muscle Trucks and Cars
in Moyock, NC
Their website: http://moyockmuscle.com/index.html
Under project cars you will find the Lakewood in the second row, third from the right. The writing on the windshield said it was a 1961, with 67,500 miles on it. On the end of the sixth row is a late model convertible that I didn't look closely at. The place was closed so I couldn't take a closer look at either, but their number is on the website if anyone is interested.
Up the road a few miles on the same side there was an early model sitting in a yard along with an alpha romeo. I didn't stop to ask about those either, but who knows what the story might be.
I was beside myself excited to actually see a Lakewood "in person" so to speak, even if I couldn't take it home. :-)
I would love to know if someone does adopt either of these cars.
