Like I said, if they forcibly destroyed a classic, the backlash would be politically devastating to whatever state wrought such a heinous act.

I can't cite you chapter and verse, but I've seen reports of it on occasion in
Old Cars Weekly.
Closing the barn door after the horse has escaped does nothing to remedy the
situation. Often times when these ordinances are enforced, the cars are forcably
(if needed) removed, and destroyed before the owner has a chance to rally the
troops. And by then, the "horse" is already lost.....

Got any evidence of these horror stories? And how often has this happened?
Get a couple of classics destroyed, and you KNOW all the car guys in that state
will be on a massive letter writing campaign, picketing DMV, sitting on the
steps of the courts and the legislatures, etc.

I don't think the track records will back you up. I've heard too many horror
stories of cars destroyed before the owner even knew, let alone was able to file
any legal motions.

Oh, I think it does! Just like in California, the public outcry will be
deafening. I doubt even one car will make it to the crusher before this is
repealed, should this law even make the light of day.

But, that does not mean you will get your parts car back before it meets the
crusher. It takes time to go to court (and money).
