Negative resistance, get real! <G>
Anyway, the gas gage is a two coil current meter. Alas, you can't separate the coils. One is 12v all the time, the other is controlled by the sending unit. As such, it makes the gas gage insensitive to system voltage. The way you get 'negative resistance' is to pull the needle off the shaft and reposition it!

The gas gauge is an ohmmeter, I can never remember which is the high
resistance, F or E. You just need to get the right value resistor to put in
series with the sender to pull?both readings down. That's the "easy" fix.
Of course, you might need that "Hard-to-find" negative resistor. When you
add it to the circuit it lessens the resistance. It is in the same catalog
with the reverse wheel spacers!
