<VV> crossmember - Question

I would like to know what the differences, aside from the camber 
adjusting feature, may be between early and late crossmembers -- not the 
suspension, just the actual cross member.

Seems any crossmember would work, if one elongated that one hole and 
welded on some stops for the eccentric. (adding this comment ensures 
that I'll get some replies if it can't be done)
