could probably just try it to find out, but, is there any reason why
late Corvair 5-stud front hubs won't fit 1964 spindles? I realize the
LF spindle on lates has a speedo hole but will the bearings fit OK? My
new V8 Corvair still has 4-stud hubs and 13" wheels. It does look like
the builder put heavy duty springs on the front (fortunately) but I
would like to go to disc brakes eventually.

Clark's Corvair list different bearings for the early vs late car -
Notable is that the FC uses the same bearing as the late models. It might work,
but the reason nobody does it is the brakes are usually swapped with the
hub, and the larger brakes of the late car - the backing plate, wheel cylinder,
etc, are quite different than the smaller early. If you are swapping the
hub, what would you do about brakes? Why not just swap the complete spindle
to the late? If you want to stay with 13" wheels (why?) then Clark's sells
(sold?) a special disk kit for the late model front spindles that fits
under a 13" wheel. I also modified a pair of late hubs - and matching drums to
use 4-bolt wheels. It was a pain, but saved big money on 13 x 7" alloy
wheels - way back in the 70s. You could do this.
