Long story short, when do you know, and should you purchase extra parts, when you plan on keeping a car a long time. My Mom owns a very rare 85 2 DOOR, Park Ave. Most all were 4 doors, this is a fully loaded 2 door. Even one of the salesman at the Buick house stopped and looked at it in the service drive, and told her how rare it is. Problem, the AC compressor has gone out after 8 or 10 years. It was also converted to 134-R in 2000. I used to work at the Buick/Chevy house, and still have a few buddys in parts. It took us two days to locate the correct compressor. and at a very good price too. The original from AC/Delco is discontinued. Went to Vintage Parts Inc,(didn't have time to check on Corvair parts), and they show to have 8 rebuilt in stock, for $199.95. Beats GMs $700, if they had it. Should I buy 2, and keep one spare? Also, how do you store it for a long time, with out ruining it? Pack it in grease, and seal it? Will the seals go bad just sitting in a box? Risk one being available in another 10 years. What do you think? OH, this car only has 52,000 original miles on it. What do you guys think? BRUCE
