<VV> Tetra-ethyl lead combats E-10 damage in older cars

I want to thank another virtualvair poster who remembers in 1961 when Gulftane was promoted as the fuel to use in aircooled VW's and Corvairs. It sold for .21/gal and was marketed as a sub-regular grade with very little lead additive. It was inferior fuel, but the agricultural/orange growers in my area used it in all their equipment.
If you use 91 premium as its sold from the pumps in my area since May 2008 , Many old car and marine motor owners are having corrosion and fuel line problems. In my state, water in the fuel has always been a problem due to the extremes of the four seasons. Since E-10 was introduced over a year ago. 'Bogging' and 'clogging' of carburetors and filters has become a major problem.  Prior to E-10 fuel sales, high concentrations of water in the gas had been a seasonal problem. I rebuilt my Rochesters with Viton kits from Clarke's and installed  new fuel lines and pumps that are compatible with E-10. I have an electric fuel pump on one of my corvairs. I was thinking of installing it close to the tank. Wouldn't it raise the boiling point by pressurizing the fuel, thereby avoiding any additives?  The biggest problem I've seen with other corvair owners  using E-10 in my area is boiling fuel causing vapor lock. Especially, if the car is driven
sparingly. The second problem was pinging. BTW  I don't use Max Lead 2000 in any of my airplanes. Many pilots own collector cars too!  Max Lead 2000 does boost octane levels and increases the boiling point 30 degrees or more depending on mixture.Addition of Max Lead 2000 eliminated pinging from the ethanol almost immediately. The corvair runs much cooler.  I just purchased the 30 acre farm with a giant barn beside my place and installed two lifts to work on our corvairs in the area. I hope to build a short track to race our creations very shortly. I never realized how handy having your own car lift can be, besides the safety factor.  Last week we installed CHT's in mine and two other corvair owners cars in this area to keep an accurate eye where extreme temps can ruin motors.
