Any publicity is good publicity? Rocco sure looks happy in his mug shot. I
guess the car was running and handling well.

A Bolingbrook man who has received at least 14 traffic tickets since 1982
-- including one less than four months ago for speeding in a construction
zone -- has yet another court date pending, this time for allegedly driving
his sports car at nearly 100 mph on a busy Naperville thoroughfare.
Rocco M. Egizio, 48, will return to DuPage County Circuit Court in
Wheaton, this time on a Class A misdemeanor charge of driving 40 mph or more over
the posted speed limit.

Rocco M. Egizio
Naperville police Cmdr. Mike Anders said Egizio was arrested at 11:53 p.m.
Monday in his 1965 Chevrolet Corvair. A police patrol car's radar unit
clocked him driving at 98 mph on a section of 75th Street where the speed
limit is 50 mph.
Anders said the traffic stop occurred as Egizio was driving east on 75th
Street and approaching Modaff Road, in the central part of the city.
The speed limit on 75th Street between Modaff Road on the west and
approximately Bell Drive to the east was recently reduced to 35 mph because of the
intersection widening project at 75th and Washington streets. Egizio's car
had not yet entered the construction zone when it was curbed by police.
Anders said Egizio was alone at the time, and offered no reason for his
driving when questioned by police. No one was injured, and there were no
reports of other vehicles being struck or forced off the roadway by Egizio's
car, he said.
Records on file in the DuPage County courthouse showed Egizio has been
ticketed 14 times over the past 27 years in traffic-related matters.
His most recent citation was issued March 5, when Naperville police
charged him with speeding in a construction zone. Court records did not indicate
where that infraction occurred.
On March 30, Egizio pleaded guilty to the charge. He was placed on court
supervision and assessed fines and legal costs, according to records.
