<VV> dues increase

I have to agree with Bill, let's go straight to $50. Any extra can be
invested in a CD (new CD's make money, renewed CD's suck).

I know at least one BoD members thinks we are over paying M&P, and we could
save money by dumping them. I don't and when I was on the BoD, I reviewed
the bids last time the management and publishing contract was put out to
bid, and we would pay a lot more for the service we are receiving today and
since the editor wouldn't be a Corvair person, and article on the newest
Corvair radiator, could be received and the publishing company would publish
it unless we had someone doing oversight. Do we pay that overseer or do we
use a volunteer.

One other idea, I really like, I heard from Steve Goodman and this is the
way Rocky Mountain CORSA does it and that is every other year, dues go up
$1. It's in the bylaws. I'm not sure $0.50/year would work for CORSA, but
maybe $1.00/year and then we don't have to have the large increase every few
years, that scare people away.

If we want to keep CORSA running like it is, we have to pay for it.

I was Corsa President when the dues were raised from $27 to $35. We lost
some members but bottom line gained some revenues.Personally, if there has
to be  a dues increase, make it to $50 now. Corsa will likely lose the same
members that would be lost by going to $45.
That said, Sarah mentioned fat in the Corsa budget. I believe that the
three largest expenditures are 1-insurance, 2-management, and
3-printing/mailing the Communique. Two of these three are pretty well fixed.
Management looks like a large amount on paper but I doubt that a less
expensive team can be found that can actually handle the job.So, again
bottom line ,the answer is raise revenues. A $12 per year, $1 per month,
 increase is not much.
The budget for the upcoming year and the last years financial
statement used to  appear in the Communique to give the membership an idea
of our financial picture I think that practice may have been stopped because
no one read it and it took up lots of room.
