<VV> Ford battery

One issue with that series of Fords is the short positive battery cable, 
especially if it has been replaced with a "heavy duty" one.  They can be 
stiff enough that it doesn't wiggle much, and vibration breaks the post 
loose from the case, allowing the leak to form the corrosion.  Solution? 
Replace with a longer 4 gauge cable after checking max regulated voltage 
(13.8-14.2).
