Yes, but the Edsel was basically built (depending on the model of Edsel) on  
the Ford chassis and body or on the Mercury/small Lincoln chassis and  body.  
They didn't have the extensive body tooling and none of the  engine/chassis 
tooling exclusively so could drop the Edsel without incurring the  degree of 
financial loss that the Corvair incurred.  
BTW, I thought that the Edsel was FAR better-looking than the '58 Ford OR  
Merc. (Just no accounting for taste, eh?)
