True, however there are only two locations for the switch to connect to
the wiring harness.
The powerglides have the connector at the switch on the dash shifter.
The three speed has its connector inside the tunnel, where the three
speed switch is. Since the four speed came after the introduction of the
three speed, GM didn't make another harness, they just specified several
feet of cable attached to the switch so the leads could reach the three
speed connector location in the tunnel.
In 1966 the tunnel mounted three speed reverse switch was deleted, and
the switch is on the transmission just like the 66 and later four speeds.
