<VV> electrified life

The question of electrifying a corvair to run on battery/electric reminds me
of my "green" neighbor.  He wanted to do something positive about reducing
emissions so, knowing the drawbacks, converted the family K5 blazer (6 cyl
5sp) to propane.  He was very happy with the results, with one caveat.  It
was impossible to use as a road car because it had only a 125 mile range.
With planning, calling ahead and so-on, he could drive somewhere, but he
couldn't really drive at night because propane vending mostly occurs at
businesses that have regular hours.  He rented a car when they wanted to
drive somewhere that was more than an hour away.
