One of the best ways to clean and polish windshield glass is steel wool. Use
only #0000, the finest grade. It cuts through waterspots and removes paint
overspray, etc.
Just rub a fairly small area with a light hand pressure, and you'll notice
the wool sliding across the glass easier as it becomes really clean.
If you're not sure about this, thinking it might scratch, try it on a small
vent window or some ready-to-discard section of window glass, until you feel
confident in your technique. I carry a piece with me in the car, for a quick
clean-up on the road. Works great on the inside of your windshield, too.
This technique also works well on chrome, stainless and polished aluminum
trim around windows, etc.

Subject: <VV> Cleaning glass
A while back I remember a discussion about how to clean water spots off of
glass. My car was washed with city water and let dry in the sun. Now I've
got ugly water spots. I've tried Windex, vinegar and ammonia and nothing
works - -Help,
