I checked the GM Corvair parts manual and it lists SOME of the FC gears and their colors. I think part of your original question was what gear you had based on the color since your's no longer had teeth.

21 teeth = orange

23 teeth = blue

24 teeth = natural (usually the off white color of nylon)
