The truth is - Mandatory membership in National Corsa for local clubs
SHOULD be a Corsa requirement. But because we have a long standing
"tradition" of not doing so means that it is unlikely to ever happen.
It's why I would not push for it - You have to pick your battles.
Is it unreasonable to tell local clubs that if they do NOT have 100%
National membership that they will have to pay a hefty surcharge for the
insurance coverage? What Corsa charges now is chicken feed compared to
what it would really cost that club to have insurance.
I know what will be said - "Well then, our club will drop out of
Corsa.....ad nauseum...). Really? So you mean paying a thousand (or
more) dollars a year for your own local club coverage (that's assuming
you can even get it) is preferable? Then your club won't bother with
insurance? How many clubs will get officers to serve when they find out
that THEY could be personally liable if some uninsured event happens?
We talk a lot about Corsa just not providing a band for the buck. But
the truth is, that's really not right. If for no other reason than the
insurance.
Here's the real question - Why is this suggestion unfair? I and Corsa
are waiting.
