AHH! but you must loosen the axle flange considerably! There's a small
7/16" head bolt.. maybe 2..... holding it to the backing plate!

Hi folks,

Since we had a beautiful day here yesterday, Trevor and I got a
little done on the '62 700 wagon's brakes. We are doing a complete
overhaul, new hoses, shoes, hardware, and cylinders. According to my
trusty shop manual, removing the rear wheel cylinders is just a
matter of:

- taking off the return springs and shoes (done)
- removing the top pivot (done)
- removing the hose (loose but still attached)
- and then removing the cylinder.

The cylinder doesn't budge. Any clues? BTW, I have done a number of
late models, this is clearly different. I have not removed the axle
since it's not in the steps. Thanks for any suggestions.
