<VV> Recruiting younger members

Ron,
I don't think that's what John is advocating. My take was that if we're
going to appeal to the younger crowd, we may have to present something other
than a "stock" Corvair. His happens to be a V8, but I don't know that it's
pumping out 500HP. If I recall correctly, it's a Cadillac small block
mounted transversely, and it would take some significant mods to reach
500HP.
At one time, I had a 68 convertible with a beautiful Porsche Gaurds Red
paint job and black stripes (ala 69 Camaro SS) that did actually cause a
couple of young airmen to become involved in an accident (their eyes weren't
on the car in front of them). So maybe it's a nice, non stock paint job with
a sweet sounding set of pipes that brings them over to look at the car.
Maybe it is a 800HP Big Block sitting up front. Maybe it's something as
removing all the badges from a car to make people ask "what is that".
I am in no way advocating that everyone needs to go out and tear up their
prized 66 Corsa 180 turbo or 69 Monza convertible to attract attention, but
if you want to attract the young croud, you have to appeal to their sense of
style. Can you say 22" wheels and air bags with a killer stereo?
Oh, someone posted this suggestion a while ago and I think it's probably the
best one I've heard in a while. If you're out somewhere and a younger person
inquires about your Corvair, offer to take them for a ride.
Again, I'm not advocating, I'm just trying to clarify a very valid point.
