Yes people sell used tanks on eBay. I purge mine by running the EXHAUST side of the vacuum cleaner through them for an hour or so then a bit of soapy water. If its been outside for a couple of weeks, I don't think there are any explosive fumes left.

need some common sense advice on if its even possible to sell and send a used gas tank for a corvair.
I drained it and aired it for a couple of weeks outside the best I could, still is a little ripe though.
Was thinking I could stuff a rag on the holes, place it in a garbage bag and box it up. then I was thinking bad idea, vapor = boom?
Then I thought I was nuts. Then I thought a christmas tree air freshener (like the ones dangling from someones rear view mirror) inside would help. LOL
Then I thought maybe a local pickup is more appropriate.
Any advice or experiences from you all experts would be nice to read and then re-contemplate my position, the gas tank, that is, not my mental state....
