'64 cars also have the long shaft... and the 65's cut-off date for the long shaft was I believe mid-April of '65, possible early May. I had a 65, second week of May, that had the two piece shaft... years ago...

Only the early '65 cars had the long shaft.  I have one out of the car sitting 
n my garage that I could measure if it would help.

nly ones I know with long shafts are 65-66 car's and 61-65 FC's.

 I have sitting here a one-piece steering column, steering box assembly 
 at the bottom, splines and threads for the steering wheel at the top. 
 The overall length of the shaft, from the top of the steering box 
 casting to the top of the threads, is 47-3/8 inches. How do I correctly 
 identify the application?
