Gentlemen (and any ladies on the forum too),
The project to support Dave Thompson, an unemployed Corvair guy in
California, has been successful, as expected.
Once again, this project has proven that Corvair people are basically
good people willing to help out a fellow enthusiast. It also proves
other things. If I had asked for volunteers to just send in donations
to CORSA to help out CORSA we would have not had the response we did.
People like to support specific projects or people. I've seen this to
be true time and again.
It also proves that, together, we can do about anything we want,
whether it's move a car from Florida to New Jersey or pay a guys dues.
If all the CORSA membership would pull together, we could also save
CORSA.
Several more than the 9 needed wanted to help. CORSA will hopefully
receive more than the $45 needed. I do not think we should try to come
up with enough to get Dave the 26 month membership. The idea was to
help him out, and that's done. We don't need to go further.
What you can do now for Dave is to pray for him. The economy is tough.
But if you believe in the power of prayer, that will help him out more
than a $5 check will.
If some of you still wish, send donations to CORSA to honor Dave or in
memory of one of those Corvair people no longer with us.
Or, make a donation to a local relief agency, the Red Cross, the
American Cancer Society, Heifer International, your church or any
number of other organizations involved with helping all the Dave's of
the world.
If you think I'm a nice guy for doing this for Dave, send a donation
to the agency that I do considerable volunteer work for: United
Ministries, in Greenville, SC - http://www.united-ministries.org/.
And now that you're all in the Christmas spirit, have a good one. Our
Christmas Party is this afternoon. I'm looking forward to being with
my local Corvair friends. I hope you'll be with yours soon too.
