I haven't received my December Communique yet, but I'm very concerned after
reading these couple posts (and some other things I've read in the past
year).
I'm a younger member (I'll be 30 in May) and I have a long future ahead of
me that I expect CORSA to be a big part of. So far I've only been to a
handful of events and (part of) one convention due to financial
constraints... but I'm extremely proud of CORSA and I want to see it stay
healthy... I expect it to play a larger role in my life as time goes by.
I would very seriously consider moving to someplace I could be a bigger help
to the organization, but I'm stuck here in PA (the same way most folks are
stuck where they grew up) due to family ties and responsibilities.
Having more free time in the future is often a "carrot on a stick", but I
really hope that once things settle down for me a little bit I can become a
more active member and contribute in bigger ways. I have some half formed
ideas of things I would like to do, but I haven't had the time to even think
on them extensively much less start taking action. I'm one of those people
on a very limited budget.. I hate seeing my CORSA dues go up, I will
continue to pay them but I have to wonder.... will raising the dues really
increase total available funds once you consider the number of folks who
will not renew due to the increase? I played sim-city enough to know how
this works! It is a tricky balancing act.
Speaking of things settling down, is anyone here from near Reading, PA? I'm
expecting to relocate to Reading in the next couple of months (just two
hours) from my current home in Lake Ariel, PA. The biggest problem is that
I'll be losing my garage =(... a big problem for someone like me.
