I am not going to tell you all that I agree HOW Jackson approached the
situation. I am going to tell you my OPINION of what he meant by it.
Jackson wanted to spark some real energy and care back into CORSA. It has
seemed in the past few years that the membership has lacked any care in the
way things are done. This is most evident by the lack of received votes for
directors and the lack of people to volunteer TO run for office. Trust me I
know how difficult it is to hear day after day that the BOD is clueless and
does not care about CORSA. It is not easy to sit behind a computer screen
while someone you don't even know calls you clueless and spineless. It's not
easy to take. My guess on what Jackson was doing was to provoke some real
reaction and care about CORSA. Now I don't remember the good days of CORSA
as I was still in grade school. But my hope is that those days come back
again. Bickering and fighting with each other is not going to help. Just
going to turn people off.
Jackson is correct that CORSA is broke but perhaps a better way of putting
it would have been to say that CORSA's identity must be redefined. It MUST
be reworked into a modern platform. What worked in the 80's probably will
not work great in the 2000's. Change happens for reasons. But WE (all of us)
have to be willing to change as well. Will everything CORSA does work?
Probably not but if we don't try new things then WE have condemned CORSA to
die. Mistake WILL be made. I make no promises that everything will work
great and tomorrow CORSA will gain 2000 new members.
The positive side of this column is that it has awoken a passion that has
been quiet in recent years. Is that a bad thing? We all need a reminder
sometimes that there ARE things worth fighting for and CORSA IS one of them.
I submit also that communication is important. Please I urge you all to feel
free to call ANY of the directors. Call EACH of them. We have nothing to
hide from any of you. Just because you are in the eastern division does not
mean you can't call someone from the central. In fact here is my cell phone
401-692-0852 and my home (listed in the Communique anyways but.)
401-766-4355. I can't promise we will agree on everything but at least we
can discuss things "person to person"(phone to phone!). But please if you
are on the west coast I do have young children so if you call after 10:00 pm
Eastern time use my cell. There is a three hour difference so I do have to
go to bed to work in the am too ( when does retirement happen?)!
