I'm not asking about the alignment shims, but the tubular spacer used to 
hold the trans mounting bracket off the aluminum front trans cover on 
4-speeds -- all years I believe.

I don't s'pose it makes any difference, as long it it spaces the 
bracket, as then you add shims as required to align.
