Hi All,
I had a great day trip to Columbus, OH Saturday-Sunday in my 65 Corsa
convertible. The trip was uneventful (mechanically) until I was almost back
home. The flared fitting on top of my Rayjay turbo modification cracked and
sent oil running out. I caught it in time but not before it spewed out about
1/2 of a quart of oil. Tom Miller, a fellow Circle City Club member came to
my rescue.
Here is my question: My present turbo oil feed line consists of the original
chrome plated line that would have gone into the front of the stock turbo.
The Rayjay turbo feeds the oil on the top so there is a 8" steel brake line
installed to extend the original line. That short steel line is what cracked
it's flare fitting. I want to replace the whole setup with a one piece line.
Can I safely use a premade steel brake line and bend as required? I ask
because I was concerned that the original line might be of a softer metal
like brass of copper and thus less likely to crack due to vibration. What
say ye of experience?
Thanks!
