<VV> Fuel tank sender connection

I'm not sure of the "bayonet style connector", as all the original GM
sending units and GM cars I've worked on have a round push onto a pin style
connector. It just snaps straight on. Did you try snapping the original
connector onto the replacement sending unit? That is what I have done. And
it fit fine. I have not bought a Clark's sending unit in the last year, but
all the others I have bought prior have a round pin and fit fine on the old
harness. I have never seen a flat (1/4" quick connect) on a replacement
sending unit for the hot lead, just the ground connection. Also, the round
pin is threaded on the sending unit, as that is how it is assembled with
the gasket and nylon insulator/nut.

The Clark's sender I bought has a non-original round threaded connector for
the hot lead and a standard (flat) 1/4" male quick connect for the ground.
The wiring harness, also from Clark's, had the original bayonet-type
connector for the hot lead which is incompatible. I cut off that connector
and crimped on a ring and used a couple of brass nuts to secure the ring to
the sender.
