<VV> Fuel tank sender connection

I just found out Friday night that the fuel gauge plug wire on my new  
wiring harness that I purchased back in Octoberish has a round plugin  
and the gauge unit  (a Clarks tank) has a flat plugin.  Should I cut  
and splice the sender connection from the old harness onto the new  
harness, or create/find an adapter to fix to the flat plugin that  
changes it to a round plugin?  I prefer the second option if possible.
