As part of the mentioned clock - courtesy circuit, one often overlooked 
culprit is the glove box lamp staying on with the door closed -- trunk 
lamps in cars so equipped, too. One would also want to check for errant 
wires at the starter solenoid, especially between the battery and ign 
terminals.

A good place to start disconnecting circuits until the problem is found 
is the fuse box.
