<VV> Engine to Transmission questions

To my knowledge, all Corvair torque converters are the same. Is the 102 a
stick motor? Perhaps you forgot to remove the pilot bushing. Rust in the
crank hole and on the torque conv. nub may be causing a binding.

Subject: <VV> Engine to Transmission questions

I'm trying to mate a 102 hp engine to a late-model powerglide transmission.
The short shaft on the torque converter does not fit into the hole on the
crankshaft gear, though. The hole is simply too small for it. My question
is: Were torque converters different from early to late? Or can you just not
mix and match engines and transmissions? If torque converters were different
from early to late, could I use an early torque converter with my late
powerglide?
