my CHT is straight up, about 400 degrees. I know that there is a difference
between oil temp and CHT but it is the only indicator that I have on the

Go for it!! I made mine from old aluminium beer/Coke cans, many years ago.
They helped; kept the engine cool in Dallas, warm in Denver, cool in
Southern California.
