Hey Guys,
Ultra Van #379 has disc brakes on the rear... and they are "real rear" disc
brakes. One caliper is leaking (somewhere), and the parking brake arm is
difficult to move... it may end up getting replaced.
The parking brake assembly (handle up front) is a strange bird... I can pull
it up, yet nothing holds it, and it slides back down. The cables move
underneath, and actuate the parking shoes, but it doesn't hold it there... I might
have to replace the parking brake handle.... if I can figure out what it is
and how it works.
She's also needing the o-rings done as well as some oil pan bolts
helicoiled... but the brakes are priority #1. We're still waiting on parts she ordered
from Shelburne Falls, so that's holding up the "easy" stuff.
She's let me borrow the manuals that came with the coach, so I'm going to
soak up as much "Ultra-knowledge" as possible...
The lady and her husband are wonderful people, and this is going to be a
true learning experience for me!
If I didn't have so much going on tomorrow I'd go back down (it's 108 miles
round trip), but it looks like Monday... I already have permission from my
teacher to skip class.
:-)
Anyway, I'll try to remember to take some pictures of that rear disc
set-up... pretty solid, if you ask me...
Now, to find that handle...
If any of you Ultra owners know ANYTHING about the parking brake assemble,
please drop me a note offline.
Thanks a bunch!
Lonzo
