too much oil pressure can cause oil consumption as the cylinder wall is  over 
sprayed with oil as the crank rotates., and the oil ring cannot wipe the  
cylinder clean as the piston moves down.  Then the compression ring pushes  the 
oil into the combustion chamber and it is burned......
