Smokey Yunick has mentioned (warned?) several times there is danger of detonation (I'm not at all sure how that might happen) and other evils if  "crossfire" (inductive firing of the other, non-firing spark plugs) results when plug wires run close together and parallel. 
Nonetheless Bundled hidden wires were characteristic of many premium engines in the days of yesteryear.
