<VV> How to cold set Timing

I'm glad that helped !
I've had Corvairs for a while, but forgot how to do set up a
distributor.
I learned a lot more than I asked !

This is the place (VV, that is) to "fill in the blanks" !

FYI :

Did you know that AutoZone lends tools ?  That's where I got the
compression gauge, and even an OBDII code reader (for another car).

Being a semi-mubie, I never noticed how the plug wires were installed in
my cap. NOW I know why my vacuum retard diaphragm is dangerously close
to the belt. The previous owner must have stabbed the distributor wrong
and moved the wires to correct it.... One more project for this weekend.

it.  I used to find where I had spark for # 1 and then put the wires in
the distriburor accordingly.  Got so much flack about it and almost
burned out a bearing trying to explain why it didn't matter where # 1
was plugged into the distributor that I quit doing it.
