 True story: may contain speculation.
  Driving a side road in Maine, in my LM Conv, decades back.
  Toad in the road, which i aimed to straddle, preserving him.
  But, as i passed over top:
      THUMP
  Apparently he took darkness as safety and yumped into the
  floorboards.
