<VV> Gas heater troubleshooting

Does anyone have a troubleshooting list for the Corvair gas heater?  I have a heater that just won't ignite.  I'm not sure where to start to look, or what to check.

I believe that the February 1998 issue of Communique had an article on the gas heater, but 1988 is the ONLY year I am missing from my Communique collection.  If anyone can find that article and can fax, scan or somehow send me a copy, I'd appreciate that.
