For putting a connector through a hole to small for it to pass, you 
remove the terminals from the plastic housing, run the wires/terminals 
through the hole, and reinsert the terminals in the plastic housing. The 
terminals are removed by depressing a small locking tab, typical GM 
terminals can be done with a very small screwdriver.

But, the firewall usually has a hole large enough to pass the plastic 
housing, you just remove the rubber grommet first.
