Russ, this policy is not unique to JC Taylor, many of the companies 
offering collector car insurance have this policy in place.  It's 
part of how they control costs, by ensuring that the collector car is 
not pressed into "normal" use.

Shop around.  You may find another company offering a policy 
variation that will meet your needs.  Also, consider approaching your 
"regular" insurance company or agent for special-status coverage for 
the Corvair.
