Splicing an engine bay harness is not a good idea. Most splices are cobble
jobs; best way to splice is to solder the splice and cover with heat shrink
tubing. The problem with the engine bay harness is, after 40 or so years,
the copper wire is oxidized black , and that cannot be soldered, nor is a
twistem type splice sound. And the Nichrome resistance wire for the coil,
can't be soldered.
