Hi .. you can fairly easily make an inexpensive corvair carpet from  "
outdoor carpeting", available at most home supply stores.  Ozocite, Ozcite,
(  SP? ).  Sometimes they may have odd cuts leftovers at a good price.

Make a template from butcher paper, or cheap Walmart sewing material backing
...  before cutting the outdoor carpeting final version.  The outdoor
carpeting is very tough and resistant to wear.  It is a little thin to be
called luxurious (g) but then you could put matting under it to make it
"softer".

It tends to flop down on your feet around the pedals unless you stick it to
the floor pan under the dash ....  use double sticky tape ( also rug tape
... ) available at the rug store also.
