According to Amsoil, their type AMO 10W-40 Premium Protection, type ARO
20W-50 Premium Protection, and type HDD 5W-30 Series 3000 Diesel oils are
recommended for older flat tappet engines. All of these oils contain
approximately 1265 ppm of Phosphorous and 1375 ppm Zinc, according to
Technical Service Bulletin MO-2007-08-08.

I have been using Amsoil type ACD 10W-30/SAE30 Diesel oil in all of my
Corvairs for about 5 years. This product also has 1265 ppm P and 1375 ppm
Zn. This is essentially a straight 30 weight oil with no viscosity index
(VI) improvers; but the 100% synthetic formula has a low pour point so that
it meets the 10W-30 specification. We live in the Upper Peninsula of MI
and only drive our Corvairs from about April through October (avoiding salt
season). Unless we leave the area [to a CORSA fuction] they only see
ambient temperatures ranging from 30 to 85F.

None of the above oils are rated "energy conserving."

I would recommend choosing from Amsoil types AMO, HDD or ACD.
