A lot of times it is the operator that causes them not to start. A couple of stabs on the throttle followed by holding it down maybe 1/3 of the way down will usually do it. (This is of course dependent on the condition of the accel pumps). If flooding is suspected then hold the throttle dow to the carpet and crank it several times. Do not let up on it between cranks.At a state inspection I was waiting in the lobby for them to do my car. The mechanic(and I use the term loosely) came in and told me Spike would not start. I went out and found he had ground away on the starter till the battery was dead. The pss through where the cables came through the battery box was completely melted away. The young A.H. was astounded that I tried to make it his fault.
