A 102 or 80 probably needs an even lower first gear (14:1) so that leads you
to "A" or "D", the factory combinations.
If you install a particularly high-torque engine (ideal), such as a 164/95
or an FC 110 (110 with a 95 cam), "B" is still fine but "C" would provide
higher mpg and quieter and faster cruise.
I'd go with "B", 3.55/3.65

Craig,
I have a '64 95HP Greenbrier 4spd. Does your comment about the factory
combinations mean that the diff ratio determined what ratio first gear had? I
have a rebuilt posi 3.55 in the 'Brier now, but the original diff was a
3.27--it required "stirring" in the mountains, but gave great cruising speeds with
less thrashing. At some time I want to go back to the original diff, when it
is rebuilt, so I'm archiving your chart for future reference.
Thanks,
Bob Hall
