Yep, the Lancia narrow angle V4s are the predecessors to VW's VR series
engines. The Italians beat the Germans to the punch by what, 40 years?

I sort of recalled Lancia was famous for V-4s with odd angles, which
the spark plug placement indicates. Then I tried to turn the coolant
hose into the intake boot for a few minutes. Then went googling to see
where the real intake ports are. Chevy was not the only one trying
radical ideas back then.
